golden gate bridge suicide deterrent net system.

X-TEND® Stainless Steel Cable Mesh was chosen as suicide deterrent netting for the Golden Gate Bridge. The X-TEND® mesh will be installed around the perimeter and will extend 20 feet out along both sides of the 1.7 mile long bridge.

X-TEND® was chosen for its superior strength and its ability to be inconspicuous against the background of this historic
site. The approximately 384,802 square feet of mesh required for the suicide deterrent net system is produced at our
facility in Woodridge, IL where we focus on Made in USA and Buy America project requirements.

San Diego, CA
The Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego, CA connects the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel with Petco Park, home of the Padres. The bridge was designed by Safdie Rabines Architects using X-TEND® cable mesh as railing infill and vertical fall protection. It incorporates 1.5mm x 70mm and 1.5mm x 30mm mesh along with 8mm I-SYS® stainless steel cable assemblies.

haymarket pedestrian bridge.

Lincoln, NE
The Haymarket Pedestrian Bridge in Lincoln, NE connects the Pinnacle Bank Arena sports facility with an entertainment plaza and parking area. The 614 foot long concrete bridge stands above a four lane highway and six active railroad tracks. The construction of the bridge marked the beginning of retail and residential growth in the Haymarket District where it has become an iconic structure for the City of Lincoln.
In order to provide secure fall protection while keeping the view uninhibited, eighteen X-TEND® panels of 1.5mm x 30mm mesh with vertical diamonds were used along the span of the 614 foot bridge. The panels vary in height from 5’11” to 12’. Panel widths range from 7’ to over 58’ runs. The mesh is framed with 10mm I-SYS® stainless steel cables with turnbuckles and eye ends to support the long spans.

Tarrytown, NY
The Mario Cuomo Bridge, formerly known as the Tappan Zee Bridge, is a marvel of modern engineering and design. This iconic suspension bridge, spanning the Hudson River in New York, boasts an intricate network of our stainless steel cable mesh against the backdrop of the river and the surrounding landscape. The mesh provides safety and fall protection for pedestrians and cyclists while also adding an aesthetic element that sets the Mario Cuomo Bridge apart from other bridges in the region. The cable mesh serves both form and function, symbolizing the blend of artistic innovation and structural integrity that characterizes this iconic Hudson Valley landmark.
